Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you source your casings from?
Our sheep casings come exclusively from New Zealand farms. We source our hog casings locally and we import some from overseas depending on customer needs.
Are your processes chemical free?
Yes. We produce all the raw material by hand and via machinery in our factory. Our sausage casings are all-natural. We only use water to clean and sort the casings and keep them fresh with food grade salt. There are no artificial additives or preservatives.
Where can you export the casings to?
We can export sheep casings to pretty much anywhere in the world. We are export registered
for China, Europe and The United States among other places.
For hog casings, we can dispatch throughout New Zealand and export to Asia-Pacific, including Taiwan, Korea, Australia, French Polynesia, Samoa and New Caledonia.
What is the minimum export quantity?
We take any size orders. All you need to do is contact us, so we can tailor the order to suit your requirements.
Can we buy your casings online?
Yes. You can visit www.thecasingboutique.com to buy our full selection of natural sausage casings.
Can I visit your factory?
Yes. By appointment only please.
Do you have to meet certain standards?
Yes. As a registered food exporter, we take seriously and comply with all food handling standards including those set by The Ministry for Primary Industries. We are audited on a regular basis.
Are you a member of INSCA?
Yes. We are a member of the International Sausage Casing Association (INSCA). INSCA monitors import and export regulations and keeps on top of casings-related information. INSCA holds conferences throughout the year where casing industry stakeholders have a great opportunity to discuss topical industry issues and areas for development.
